I’m indoors hiding from the oppressive 93 degree F heat on this sweltering Sunday afternoon, with heat index values at something like 104 … man, it’s HOT !! The AC is working overtime, but the room’s still not cool enough ‘cos of the heat emanating from the attic above me.

But back to THATCamp, here’s a post-THATCamp reflections piece by Tom Scheinfeldt that ably captures the spirit and nature of my first THATCamp experience for all my friends and work colleagues who all asked me the same question the week before I was to head up to CHNM, “What’s an unconference?”

And here are a couple of blogposts I’ve read by fellow THATCampers on discussions I attended, as well as sessions I missed.

1. Research Methods in the Age of Digital Humanities – excellent summary of discussions posted by moderator Lisa Spiro

2. Search and Creative Commons/Copyright – two sessions led by Karin Dalziel that I was really interested in attending but missed unfortunately

3. Crowdsourcing transcription and annotation – captured by Jeanne Kramer-Smyth and Ben Brumfield for another session I was really interested in hearing about since this has potential for work being carried out at the Papers of Thomas Jefferson and the Papers of Thomas Jefferson: Retirement Series as well as other Founding Fathers documentary projects. I have especially been interested in how we can leverage the energy and interest of folks willing to spend their personal time and energy in projects on LibraryThing and Flickr Commons.

4. Text Mining - detailed summary also by Jeanne for another session I couldn’t attend

5. Oral History - post by Marjorie McLelland

6. Session posts by Mills Kelly on Edwired

Plus, simply cool blogs I’ve stumbled upon by other THATCampers like Rob McDougall.
